Farmers’ Protest: Govt Sends Third Letter In Eight Days Inviting Farmers For Talks

Intensifying their agitation, farmers disconnected the electricity connections of Reliance towers at several places in Haryana.

New Delhi| Today, it has been a month for the farmers’ agitation against agricultural laws. Farmers can take a decision today on the new letter of invitation from the government. The letter was written on Thursday by the government. The letter said, the farmer leaders should fix the date and time for the talks. But, seeing the demands are not being met, farmers have intensified their protest. Also, they have warned to make Haryana toll free for 3 days from today.

In 8 days, the government has written a third letter to the farmers. It states that the three laws will not affect the minimum support price (MSP). It is ready to give written assurance on this, but it is not right to keep a new demand about it apart from agricultural laws.

Balbir Singh Rajewal, the head of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, said that the government is still messing around. They want to have separate meetings to divide the farmers, which is not acceptable to us. “If there is no concrete decision, the movement will be intensified throughout the country,” he said.

Intensifying their agitation, farmers disconnected the electricity connections of Reliance towers at several places including Malot, Sangrur, Ferozepur, Moga, Patti, Chheharta. The connection from tower at Gadrana village in Sirsa in Haryana was also cut off. Police arrived there, but could not restore the connection. At the same time, the helipad made for deputy CM Dushyant Chautala at Uchana in Jind was uprooted by the farmers. The protesters put up black flags there. The deputy CM’s program was cancelled in view of the protest.
