In Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, within days of schools reopening, a total of 67 students and 25 staff members of a school tested positive for Covid-19, India Today reported.
At Tibetan Children Village (TCV) School in Mandi district’s Sojha, a total of 67 students including 47 girls, 20 boys and 25 staff members tested positive.
“They tested positive when administration adopted a proactive approach on their arrival from outside state and carried out routine enhanced testing under its special testing campaign,” a government official informed.
Covid-19 positive students of TCV school have travel history from outside state, the officials said.
All students tested positive came to the state between 25th to 31st October from Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Maharashtra and Nepal, the spokesperson added.
The district administration, meanwhile, took stock of the facilities available in the school premises and isolated the positive students and staff members.
The infected students and staffers are under observation of the Health Department and if required would be shifted to Covid Care Centre or hospital.
All the barriers have been opened as per the guidelines of the central government, the spokesperson said, adding that “The state government is taking all preventive measures to make sure that no infected person stays in the state to safeguard the local population.”
Testing has increased in the state and about six thousand tests are being done regularly.
