Farmers across Madhya Pradesh held a statewide protest last year which led to violence in many parts of the state, especially in Mandsaur district. The Madhya Pradesh government in its report said that 5 farmers were killed in the police firing in Mandsaur after the protesting farmers, demanding loan waiver, had allegedly set ablaze 25 trucks and two police vans along the Mhow-Neemuch highway. The state government appointed commission investigating the incident in its report gave a clean chit to the cops involved in the incident.
