Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu informed the house that TMC MP Shantanu Sen has been suspended for the remainder of the current session.
New Delhi| The Monsoon Session of Parliament has so far remained unproductive due to the uproar of the opposition. On Thursday, the parliament was adjourned following multiple disruptions by the members of the opposition parties. Friday was no different.
Even today, both the houses of the parliament Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha had to be adjourned due to the uproar by the opposition MPs. The proceedings of the Lok Sabha have been adjourned till Monday. On the other hand, due to the uproar by members of various parties including Trinamool Congress, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha were first adjourned till 12 noon and then till 2.30 pm.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu informed the house that Trinamool Congress MP Shantanu Sen has been suspended for the remainder of the current session for indecent conduct a day ago. Following this, commotion started. Due to this, the proceedings of the Upper House were adjourned till 2:30 pm. During this, the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha said, ‘Shantanu Sen, you are requested to go out of the house, this morning you have been suspended by passing a motion in the Rajya Sabha.’

On Thursday, Rajya Sabha was adjourned on a tense note as Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was heckled by TMC MPs. Vaishnaw who was issuing a suo motu statement on Pegasus row, stood up to speak when TMC MP Shantanu Sen snatched the statement paper from the minister’s hand. He tore the papers and threw the pieces at the Deputy Speaker. After this commotion ensued in the Rajya Sabha and the house proceedings had to be adjourned till Friday. Commenting on the suspension of Shantanu Sen, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said, “Jaisi karni waisi bharni. If MPs conduct themselves irresponsibly, then They have to pay the price.”
