MP Floor Test: Supreme Court Sends Notice To CM Kamal Nath, Speaker; To Hear The Matter Tomorrow

The Supreme Court today has given notice to all the parties, including Governor Lalji Tandon, Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Assembly Speaker NP Prajapati.

 

New Delhi| Amidst the political turmoil in Madhya Pradesh, the Supreme Court has deferred the hearing till tomorrow. The hearing will now be held in the Supreme Court at 10.30 am. The BJP had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding order to conduct an immediate floor test in the assembly. It had listed the matter for urgent hearing.

The apex court today has given notice to all the parties, including Governor Lalji Tandon, Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Assembly Speaker NP Prajapati, seeking reply within 24 hours. 10 MLAs, including former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, had filed a petition on Monday. At the same time, Congress also petitioned the apex court to bring back the 22 legislators holed up in Bengaluru.

While there was no lawyer present from the Congress during the hearing, the Supreme Court said – “We will listen to the other party too.” After this, the court has asked all parties to respond within 24 hours. These notices will be sent via email and WhatsApp. In addition, a copy of the petition and petition of the rebel MLAs will be sent to the parties. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who arrived on behalf of the BJP, said the court had issued a notice for Wednesday. The 22 MLAs of Congress have left the party, they do not have a majority, so no one has come to their hearing.
