Second Coronavirus case reported in Kolkata as student who returned from U.K. tests positive

A second coronavirus infection was discovered in Kolkata. The number of cases in Kolkata is two. The victim is 25 years old.

Treatment for the two youths undergoing COVID-19 in the isolation ward of Infectious Diseases and Beleghata General (ID&BG) Hospital in Kolkata is undergoing treatment.

According to Health Department sources, on March 8, a young man, aged 25, was returning from London to Kolkata in the Ballygunge area of ​​South Kolkata. After a health check-up at the airport, the authorities concerned ordered him to remain at home isolation. The young man, along with two others, returned from London, who is known to be his friend. According to sources, the young man from Ballygunge learned that the two friends who returned with him were infected with the novel coronavirus. One of them was reported to be from Punjab and the other from Chhattisgarh.

The young man from Ballygunge arrived in Calcutta’s Infectious Diseases and Belleghata General (ID&BG) hospital on Thursday morning after learning that two friends had been exposed to COVID-19. The young man was admitted to the isolation ward of Belleghata ID Hospital after doctors checked his health and learned of his return from London.

The swab sample of the young man was sent to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) for testing. The report of this sample test was reported only last night. There, this young COVID-19 is positive. Shanta Dutt, director of NICED this morning, said, “Coronavirus test report for a person under the age of thirty has arrived positively on Beleghata ID.”

Samples of parents, grandparents and brother-in-law of the second victim in the state may be examined at COVID-19, Health Department sources said. The five have been reported to be in-home isolation for a while. However, it is not yet known whether the quarantine centre will be kept at Razarhat.

The authorities of the hospital have not yet disclosed whether the victim’s family had been brought to Belleghatra ID Hospital for a swab examination.
