‘Show-Cause Notice’ Issued Against Amarinder’s Wife Preneet

Chandigarh : The Congress issued a show-cause against wife of Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and Congress Patiala MP Preneet Kaur seeking an explanation for her “anti-party activities,” and siding with her husband’s party.

Congress Leader Harish Choudhary, said that they have been receiving reports from Congress workers about her anti-party activities. Issuing the notice to Preneet Kaur he wrote, “For the last many days, we are continuously receiving reports from Congress workers, MLAs, leaders from Patiala and the media about your anti-party activities.”

“This information and news have been coming ever since your husband Captain Amarinder Singh ji resigned from the Congress and floated his own party: Punjab Lok Congress. We are also made aware of your announcements in the media about siding with your husband’s party,” he wrote.

In the notice, the Congress asked Kaur to explain her stand on the issue within seven days “otherwise the party will be forced to take necessary disciplinary action.”

Meanwhile Amarinder Singh, in an interview said that he will invite PM Modi to campaign with him for his party and he will too campaign for BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He was only willing to do so if the farm laws are repealed.

The move follows that Preneet will support Amarinder in his political endeavors. “Captain Amarinder Singh has always stood by the commitment he makes. Main apne parivaar de naal haan (I am with my family),” Preneet had reportedly said while talking to media at an event in Samana. She was replying to specific queries on whether she would be joining her husband’s political venture, The Indian Express had reported two days ago.

Preneet Kaur has been given a deadline of seven days to explain herself.

Kaur has previously served in the Government of India as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 to 2014.
