Situation Along Border In Ladakh Sensitive, Says Army Chief On Visit To Take Stock of Preparations

General Narwane said that the situation has been tense for the last 2-3 months, but India is constantly negotiating via military and diplomatic channels with China.

 

Ladakh| Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane is on a visit to Leh for the second consecutive day amid fresh tensions with China in Ladakh. Reacting to the situation on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), he said it is a bit delicate and serious and thus army has deployed additional troops as a precautionary measure to protect our borders. “The morale of our soldiers is high, they are ready to meet every challenge,” the army chief said.

‘Our Soldiers are the best in the world’

The army chief said, “I visited many areas. Talked to the officers and took stock of the preparations. I would again say that our officers and jawans are the best in the world. They will not only boost the pride of the army but also the country.”

General Narwane said that the situation has been tense for the last 2-3 months, but India is constantly negotiating via military and diplomatic channels with China. “This process will continue. We are confident that the talks will resolve the dispute. It will decide whether the status quo remains on the LAC,” he said.

China tried to capture Pangong area on the night of 29-30 August

China attempted to capture a hill at the south end of Pangong Lake but the attempt was thwarted by Indian troops. Thereafter, on 31 August, China again tried to infiltrate again on 1 September, but China failed every time. Meanwhile, the Indian army occupied the disputed area and made its dominance.
