The Election Commission announced a surge in female voter participation in recent years. Out of the country’s 96.8 crore voters, 49.7 crore are male and 47.1 crore are female, with 85.3 lakh women voters aged 18-19. The Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, noted the gender ratio surpasses 1,000 in 12 states, with women voters outnumbering men. Additionally, over 1.89 crore new voters have been registered, including 85 lakh women. The Commission has also processed 13.4 lakh advance applications, ensuring over 5 lakh individuals will become eligible voters by April 1.
