After SPG bill gets passed, PM Modi remains the only VIP to enjoy protection of the elite force

VP Singh, Chandra Shekhar, Narsimha Rao’s SPG security was also revoked. EX- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s SPG protection was also revoked

New Delhi: On Tuesday finally, the SPG Amendment Bill was passed and that makes Prime Minister Narendra Modi the only VIP to enjoy the protection of the elite force. On November 27 the Bill was passed in Lok Sabha. It was passed with a voice vote, meanwhile, Congress MPs had walked out of the House in protest.

Sources said the BJP will meet on Tuesday as the party deliberates on its strategy for the remaining winter session of parliament, which ends on December 13. BJP MPs were informed in the Parliamentary Party meeting that Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament next week.

Meanwhile, the Recycling of Ships Bill, 2019 will be introduced by Union Minister Mansukh Mandavia for consideration in the Lok Sabha. The SPG bill is to provide for the regulation of recycling of ships by setting certain standards and laying down the statutory mechanism for enforcement of such standards.

BJP leader G Kishan Reddy moves SPG (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the Rajya Sabha. This is the fifth amendment in the SPG Act. This amendment is not brought in by keeping Gandhis in mind, but, one thing that I can say for sure is that the previous four amendments were done by keeping only one family in mind.

VP Singh, Chandra Shekhar, Narsimha Rao’s SPG security was also revoked. EX- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s SPG protection was also revoked. But the Congress did not create a ruckus then. No discussion was had in the country when their security was involved. Law is equal for everyone, not similar to a single country said Shah.

He added Gandhis have been given the highest security of the land. We have given them Z Plus security them; we have given them CRPF cover. Even PM Modi will not get SPG cover after five years of him not being in the office if such a time comes. The government has launched a probe into the security breach.

Union Minister said the Communist and Marxist have no right to talk about vendetta politics. Around 120 RSS and BJP workers have been killed in Kerala.
“Security cannot be made a status symbol. Why there is only demand for SPG? SPG tag is meant for only the ‘head of the state’, we cannot be giving it to everyone. Government don’t oppose one family, we are against dynasty politics,” Amit Shah says. The Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019 finally got passed in the upper house.
As the voting began, Congress leaders staged a walkout of the Rajya Sabha. The Bill was passed after the rest of the members voted in its favor.
