Lucknow | BSP Chief Mayawati announced on Wednesday that she will not be contesting this year’s Lok Sabha elections, citing “current political situations”
Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, she declared,” I will not contest the Lok Sabha polls”.
She reassured that she has a strong alliance with the Samajwadi Party(SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD), and together they can defeat the BJP.
“It is more important for us to win more seats than for me to win one”, she said.
“I had earlier resigned from Rajya Sabha to keep our movement alive, but keeping in mind the current political situation, I have decided not to contest the Lok Sabha elections”, Mayawati further clarified her decision.
Mayawati cleared the Congress alliance rumours and declared that BSP is not in alliance with Congress in any state.
SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan and several other leaders had supported Mayawati in the Prime Ministerial position.
