“I am not Rahul Savarkar, I don’t apologize for speaking truth”: Rahul Gandhi’s jibe at Modi govt

Taking a dig at BJP and its ideological parents RSS, Rahul Gandhi said, “My name is Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar. I will never apologize for speaking the truth.”

New Delhi| At Ramlila Maidan here, the Congress organized a ‘Save India’ rally against the Modi government on Saturday. It includes interim president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Dr Manmohan Singh. At the rally, issues like the country’s declining economy, rising unemployment remained the target. Rahul Gandhi in his aggressive speech said that this country does not back down.

Taking a dig at BJP and its ideological parents RSS, Rahul Gandhi said, “My name is Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar. I will never apologize for speaking the truth. And no Congressman will apologize.” Rahul Gandhi said it is Narendra Modi who should apologize to the country. “His assistant Amit Shah has to apologize,” Gandhi remarked. The Congress believes that in the British era Vinayak Damodar Savarkar had apologized to the British.

Rahul’s statement comes amidst the controversy over his ‘Rape in India’ statement. Many women MPs, including Union Minister Smriti Irani, have asked Rahul to apologize on this. However, Rahul said that he would not apologize.

‘Today the whole country is holding onions’

Rahul said, “Earlier, the power and spirit of the country was its economy. We had the whole world wondering at us and saying what is happening in Hindustan. The global community used to see China on one side and India on the other. European countries used to equate India and China. Today, the country is holding onions. India’s economy, Narendra Modi, ended up alone.”

“Economy not yet recovered from Demonetization:

“Modi came on TV at 8 pm. The economy is still hurt so much that it has not recovered to date. He said it is a fight against black money. It is a fight against corruption. Modi took money out of the pocket of Mothers, sisters and youth. He handed over millions of billions to Ambani-Adani,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“Manmohan ji had asked not to launch GST without pilot project. Modiji said I will. Today there is the highest unemployment in 45 years. GDP was 9%, today it reached 4.5%. If our country’s GDP is measured today in our way, then the actual GDP is 2.5%. All the enemies of India wanted to destroy the economy of Hindustan. This was done by the Prime Minister, not by the enemies,” Rahul Gandhi noted.
