“Modi Popular In Bengal”: Prashant Kishor’s Leaked Clubhouse Audio A New Headache For TMC

In a series of tweets, Amit Malviya shared the audio clips of the chat of Prashant Kishor with selected journalists where he purportedly claimed that the TMC Internal survey showed BJP winning.

 

Kolkata| Ahead of the fourth phase of elections in West Bengal, the BJP leaked audio of Trinamool Congress’ election strategist Prashant Kishor, in which he was purportedly heard discussing the popularity of the leaders with selected journalists on the clubhouse app. In the leaked audio he compares the popularity of Mamata Banerjee and PM Modi and goes on to say that both are equally popular in the state.

However, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has tweeted the leaked audio stating that even Prashant Kishor has admitted there’s an anti-incumbency wave against Mamata Banerjee in the state. He said that Prashant Kishor further predicted that 50% of Hindus of the state will vote for BJP. The leaked audio could prove to be another headache for the TMC in the battle of perception 44 seats are polling today in the fourth phase.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor has said that only a part of the entire chat was put out by the BJP. He also challenged the party to publish entire audio chat.

Amit Malviya tweets Audio Clips

In a series of tweets, Amit Malviya shared the audio clips of the chat of Prashant Kishor with selected journalists. The Journalists who attended the meet include The Wire’s Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Mitali Mukherjee, NDTV’s Ravish Kumar, Independent journalist Sakshi Joshi, Swati Chaturvedi etc.

In one of the tweets, Malviya wrote, “In a public chat on Club House, Mamata Banerjee’s election strategist concedes that even in TMC’s internal surveys, BJP is winning. The vote is for Modi, polarisation is a reality, the SCs (27% of WB’s population), Matuas are all voting for the BJP! BJP has a cadre on the ground.”

In another tweet, he wrote that Prashant Kishor admitted that the Left, Congress and TMC ecosystem indulged in appeasement and that resulted in resentment on the ground. Malviya further wrote, “Modi is hugely popular in Bengal and there is no doubt about it. There is a cult around him across the country. There is anti-incumbency against TMC, polarisation is a reality, SC votes is a factor plus BJP’s election machinery, says Mamata Banerjee’s strategist in an open chat.”

Prashant Kishor Defends Himself

On the other hand, Prashant Kishor tweeted responding to the claims saying that he is firm on his prediction that BJP will not win more than 100 seats in West Bengal. He tweeted, “I am glad BJP is taking my chat more seriously than words of their own leaders! They should show courage & share the full chat instead of getting excited with selective use of parts of it. I have said this before & repeating again – BJP will not to CROSS 100 in WB. Period.”

Meanwhile, reactions have started coming from the BJP regarding this chat. BJP leader Rajib Banerjee said, “The day Prashant Kishor tweeted that BJP will not reach 3 digits, the next day I said that TMC will not reach 3 digits. Prashant Kishore’s audiotape shows that he has failed. In Bengal, the strategy of the strategist will not work at all. ”
