Aftab’s statements kept changing when he was questioned in October and on November 3. Aaftab told police that after the death of Shraddha’s mother in 2020, there would be frequent fights between them over petty issues.
A similar fight happened in May following which she left their house in Delhi, he told the cops. Unable to explain the bank transactions and tower location details of Shraddha’s mobile, Aaftab had no other option but to confess that he murdered his live-in partner.
Aaftab told police that Shraddha left the house with her cell phone, leaving clothes and other belongings behind. Police then tracked the victim’s mobile phone activity and her call details and found out that Aaftab had transferred Rs 54,000 from Shraddha Walker’s account from May 22 to May 26, using the banking app on her phone.
Besides, he also accessed Shraddha’s Instagram account on May 31 and chatted with one of her friends to make people believe that she was alive.
When police tracked down the cellphone location of Shraddha, it was found near Mehrauli police station limits.
Police then detained him and questioned and that solved the case.
“If she had left him on May 22, how was her location still Mehrauli?” police asked him. Aaftab then broke down and narrated the horrifying details to the police that they had a fight on May 18, following which he strangulated her and then chopped her body into 35 pieces.
