BJP faced a backlash on social media for comparing Modi to Maharashtra’s widely revered hero, King Shivaji.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) released a booklet in their Delhi headquarters. The booklet is named Aaj Ke Shivaji- Narendra Modi, comparing Narendra Modi to Maharashtra’s revered ruler Chatrapati Shivaji. New controversy erupted in the country after the launch of the booklet. People from Maharashtra as well as other states have expressed anguish on this new gimmick by the BJP. Many opposition leaders and citizens expressed their anguish on the social media platform following the Twitter post by the BJP leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal, who also happens to be the author of the booklet.

The booklet was released in BJP headquarters today on the occasion of the Religious-Cultural Summit. In this summit, the booklet comparing PM Narendra Modi to the Mahrashtra’s loved ruler Chatrapati Shivaji was launched. The event was attended by the BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari and a few other leaders.
The booklet written by the BJP leader can stir up whole new controversy for the saffron party. Narendra Modi has often addressed King Shivaji as his teacher. His comparison with the King now raises questions over Modi’s earlier claims.
Jitendra Awhad, the NCP leader & Minister in Maharashtra cabinet, expressed his anguish on Twitter sharing the picture of the booklet. He said, “There cannot be another Shivaji till the end of this world. Todays’ Shivaji- Narendra Modi. I cannot convince myself.”
