H D Deve Gowda claims that Modi sharper than Vajpayee in the art of public speech

A day after H D Deve Gowda hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for preventing him from quitting his LS membership, the JD(S) chief took a U-turn and said on Thursday that PM Modi’s oratory skills were much better than BJP icon Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s.

“In the art of public speech, he is sharper than Vajpayee. Even Vajpayee ji wanted to support my government when Congress brought it down in 1997. I refused. He has been a gentleman. I am a different person. Not a power hungry politician,” Mr Gowda stated in an interview with Rohan Dua.

According to him, the coming elections will change the entire political scenario in Karnataka just like by-polls in Uttar Pradesh did to defeat BJP. But his main focus has always been to ensure that a regional party should come to power.

When asked about the Congress claims that state a secret alliance between his party and BJP he refuted the claims by saying that Congress just wanted to mislead the Muslims. He boldly stated that Congress has been going down and down since the last two years and thus they are desperately chewing on the bone that is Karnataka.

Deve Gowda concluded his interview by stating that his son HD Kumaraswamy is the new star of Karnataka and he is currently touring the entire state, but you can never predict the future. He was clearly referring to the ongoing election campaigns.
