The CB-CID is also looking into the death of a Class 12 student on July 13 in the Kallakurichi district.
A number of individuals, including senior police officers, were hurt during the violent protests and fires that followed the murder of the pupil at a private residential school.
After authorities discovered a message accusing two teachers of “humiliating her for her academic performance,” five people—including the school’s principal and two teachers—have been detained in connection with the Kallakurichi case.
However, the girl’s parents filed a lawsuit alleging that the crime scene showed evidence of a physical altercation. A second autopsy was then mandated by the Madras High Court.
The high court also mandated that the CB-CID conduct an investigation into fatalities in educational facilities.
